About the event
Join us for a free screening of Me Period by the Black Women's Health Imperative, a film on puberty, menstruation, and health discovery.
These are the conversations we’ve always needed. The journey often starts with the first period, but the way in which we come to know ourselves and our bodies begins with every conversation we’ve had--or haven’t had--before then.
Through the eyes of everyday families and celebrity mothers like Sheryl Lee Ralph and Tabitha Brown, 'Me Period' explores the beauty and complexity of how we navigate sensitive conversations about our bodies and our periods. It also raises our consciousness about how one's upbringing, personal trauma, and relationships with our own mothers and caregivers may impact our approaches to these conversations.
Following the screening we will engage in a discussion with Board Certified OBGYN and educator, Dr. Jessica White Videa of Ideal Women's Healthcare and Let's Talk About It and Nicky Dawkins, a Period Doula and Founder of Menstrual Market.
